About SteelDesk Tangshan
An independent, buyer-side steel inspection and sourcing desk based in Tangshan, Hebei, China. We work for the importer, not for the mill, and we are paid only by the buyer.
What we are
We are a small, independent service provider based in Tangshan, in Hebei province, China. We visit steel factories on behalf of overseas buyers, record what we see, verify what can be verified, and write it up in English so that a buyer who has never set foot in China can make a decision with less guesswork.
We are not a mill, a trading company, an inspection body or a certification body. We do not sell steel, we do not broker it, and we do not accept commissions from suppliers for inspection work.
Where we work
Tangshan and the surrounding Hebei steel belt: Qian'an, Fengnan, Fengrun and Lubei districts, plus nearby Tianjin and Cangzhou. Tangshan is one of China's major steel production areas, which is why a desk here can reach a large number of candidate plants in a single day.
If your supplier is outside this area, tell us the city. We will confirm whether coverage and cost make sense, or decline rather than send someone who does not know the local market.
How we are paid
Only by the buyer, on a fixed fee agreed in writing before any travel. We do not take supplier commission for inspection work. If we have a prior relationship with a company we are asked to review, we say so before accepting the job.

What we will not do for marketing
We do not publish invented client logos, customer testimonials, certification badges, factory counts or order volumes, and we do not claim guaranteed rankings or outcomes. Any report example on this site is labelled as a specimen. If you want references, ask us directly in the context of a specific category and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot share.
Language and time zone
Reports and buyer correspondence are in English; factory work is in Chinese. We work to Gulf, North African and East African business hours as far as practical, so a question sent from Dubai or Nairobi in the morning is usually answered the same day.
Who you are dealing with
Is your company a factory or a mill?
Neither. We are an independent buyer-side service based in Tangshan. We do not manufacture, sell or represent steel, and we do not take commission from the factories we inspect. Our client is the buyer who commissions the work.

What languages do you work in?
English and Chinese. Reports and correspondence with buyers are in English; the work with factories is done in Chinese. Arabic, French and Portuguese messages are welcome but replies may take longer.
